Sandra Keja Planken
Ode al Mar
For Keja Planken as an artist, her work evades the bounds of the comprehensible, theacceptable, and oftentimes, the likeable. Her expression, courageously authentic, does not live to seek external validation but exists to immortalise the stories, experiences, and muses. Together with 3DD the medium of choice to present in Milano is a virtual one. With this they create a narrate to a story, transforming into a script for viewers to interpret in their own unique way. The visceral ties between humans, perception, 3D and human nature encored them to show in this artistic virtual manifestation—They unveil once more her collection as an ode to the sea. “We need the sea because it teaches us the best we can be.”

Keja Planken is known for her seemingly dynamic collectible objects and bold interior designs. Her fascination with nature and storytelling finds home within her pieces—a propensity that breathes life into these objects as well. ‘Heart of Glass Mini Me’ vessel, as well as the ocean and sea grass-inspired Nature Face tapestry, are redolent of natural forms and a landscape blooming at the bottom of the sea. Keja-Planken’s oeuvre revolves around the relationship between people, nature and human nature. She translates her emotions and messages into wall hangings and objects that invite the onlooker to partake in her fascination. Anthropomorphic and colour pop features and landscapes collide with abstract forms and the human psyche, cultivating vibrant and evocative compositions. Each object is emblematic of a unique emotion and story. For her glass and textile art, she collaborates with the TextielMuseum and Glass Museum. For the mind-blowing virtual landscapes she has a strong ongoing collaboration wit the Italian based 3DD.
Showing virtual in Milano feeds the sustainability landscape as well as the reminiscent visions of Keja-Planken implore observers to delve deep, into encountering new ways and the viewers own awareness. With Ode al Mar – virtual a Milano, they depicts how the state of mind shifts constantly, akin to forces of nature, accepting nature and future thinking from real to virtual as the teacher it is. Her vivid entities invite you to engage rather than just look at them; ultimately, these ‘little omens as nature, universe and life forms,’ are an appeal for “open mindedness, sensory play and looking forward”. They are meant to be hopeful in an ongoing industry of muchness.
